Acupuncture-Initial Visit
Acupuncture works at restoring balance in the entire body and aids in its healing process. Depending on your chief complaint, we can work on improving your overall health and preventative care as well as treat pain and injuries. The initial visit is about 45 minutes including treatment and consultation time.
Acupuncture-Follow up
Acupuncture follow ups are approximately 30-45 minutes depending on condition treated.
Facial Acupuncture
Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is a blend of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture to create a more vibrant and healthier look while reducing fine wrinkles and sagging skin around the face. It provides a safe and natural alternative to surgery and even botox.
Through a combination of specifically placed needles and LED light therapy, we are able to increase the muscle tone around the face to help you look and feel younger and healthier. The treatment is twofold. In addition to working directly on the face, acupuncture is also performed to enhance the body’s constitution to improve your health from the inside to out. We believe in the beauty of the natural skin glow so after our session we will not apply any lotion or product on your skin.
Allow about 60 minutes for each session including consultation and treatment time.
If we use any products during the session, they are made from natural ingredients with no preservatives or chemicals. If you have any specific skin allergies, please mention this during your initial consultation. The Celluma LED light therapy used during the session is safe and cleared by the FDA for use on the face and body.
Trigger Point Acupuncture/Dry needling
Trigger point acupuncture or Myofascial trigger point therapy is a specialized technique in Acupuncture that is primarily used for the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. This technique may be a little more intense than a regular acupuncture treatment as it requires direct stimulation of the injured and tightened muscles. Once stimulated, it may produce a fasciculation or twitch in the muscle as the muscle releases it tension and in a sense “resets” the muscle tone. It is not uncommon that after a session, the muscles that were triggered become sore, just as it would after an intense workout. Make sure to drink plenty of water and stay warm after the treatment. No workout for a day or two after the session. Once the soreness wears off, the normal muscle tone will be restored. It may take a few sessions for the restored state to take hold depending on how long ago it was injured. This technique can also be used for muscle atrophy due to neurological conditions.
There are many other specialists that perform this type of work. Most of them refer to this technique as Dry Needling but make sure they have adequate training and are licensed to practice acupuncture. We recommend seeking out acupuncturists with a background in sports medicine or orthopedics to do a full body assessment including range of motion, strength and gait before and throughout the course of treatment to keep track of the progress.
Sessions are approximately 30-45 minutues.
Cupping/Myofascial Therapy
Cupping, also known as myofascial decompression is a simple and effective technique that can be used with acupuncture or alone to help with muscle congestion. Muscle congestion can be caused by repetitive injury and incorrect posture. This results from prolonged sitting in front of a computer or at a desk.
Glass or ceramic cups are used to alleviate the tension in the muscles. Please note that if the tension is severe, a discoloration in the skin may occur to the suction of the cups. This is an indicator of the tension and stress in the muscles. The darker the color the tighter the muscle. With continued treatment, this color will fade and circulation in the muscles will improve. Cupping sessions usually take about 20 minutes.
